Admittedly I had one of the worst rooms in the basement and it was ok for 1 night. They needed to turn heating on for arrival though! Absolutely gorgeous breakfast and lovely old building. Would like to try a better room next time. No carparking onsite so need to pay for valet carparking.

Dear Mecure Team, I have tried to post a few reviews for the weekend I just spent in your hotel. I was utterly impressed with the service, the cleanliness of the hotel and quality of the rooms. I have stayed in some of the top hotels in NZ and Australia and nothing beats this place. Cant wait to stay again, well done and all the best :)

We stayed 4 nights over a weekend (mother and daughter). Comfortable clean warm room. We asked to be away from streetfront so no problems with noise apart from hearing people in next room talking (beware the walls must be thin). No view from our room but not much to see out front anyway, just big buildings. Easy 5 minute walk to the Octagon or buses stopped right outside door. Our rate included cooked breakfast which was great, any food we had from their Relish restaurant was lovely. Most outstanding feature would have to be the staff, all friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Dreadful service We traveled from Christchurch to escape the aftershocks, watch the rugby at Carisbrook and have a relaxed weekend. We had booked a (large) superior room and only after we had got to the room did we find they had overbooked and had put us in something slightly larger than a shoe box. When we questioned this and asked for a refund on the difference we were told they couldn't do that and offered (after much discussion) a $10 breakfast voucher. So totally disappointed with the quality of the room, blame shifting and the poor service that we drove back to Christchurch that night

The service here was disgusting. It was one of those rare sunny days in Dunedin and when we got up to our room it was extremely hot as our room air conditioning was clearly not working. As the night wore on, the room was getting hotter and hotter so around 9.30 pm I called reception to request a fan, and I was abruptly told that I couldn't get it straight away and that was fine. One hour and thirty minutes later, our hotel room phone rang twice then stopped, so I called reception and got Stephen the night manager and he told me he had been calling our room and no-one had answered. I then explained to tell him the phone had only rung twice so he apologised for it. He then snottily told me he had been so busy and that there was no fan available, he only had a broken one and that they were fully booked. I then proceeded to explain how hot the room was and he cut me off and started yelling at me. Two minutes after hanging up the there was a knock at the door and the night manager told me he had just had a cancellation (at 11.00 pm at night) and that he found a fan we could have. I thanked him, plugged it in and it didn't work, which is when I realised it was the broken one he had at reception. In summary, the room temperature was horrible and the service was disgusting. I would not recommend anyone staying here at all.
